HONORS AND AWARDS

Maryville High School has been designated as an A+ school by the Governor of Tennessee.  This recognition is bestowed on
unusually successful schools in which the faculty, students, and community have demonstrated a commitment to excellence.

Individual programs, students, and teachers have received state and national awards of all kinds.  Nearly every year, students qualify
for national and state competition in academic contests and extracurricular activities.  Athletic teams and individual athletes
annually
win conference and state championships.

SENIOR PROGRAM

MHS offers three courses which focus on preparing seniors for the next steps after graduation.  Senior Inquiry is an honors level
course that assists students in creating a portfolio of accomplishments for college acceptance and scholarships.
Senior Transition
emphasizes practical needs such as time management and independent living.  Both courses foster self-assessment, involve
students in community service and job shadowing,  and provide information on college and career topics.  Seniors also have an
independent project option that engages them in exploration of an area of interest while developing such life skills as
interpersonal communication, self-discipline and motivation, intellectual curiosity, independence, and responsibility.
